Level, Rank, and titles
Distinguish Level, Rank, and titles, with clearer progression and Pokémon-use limits.
The planned rework gives Level, Rank, and titles different roles. Level follows the trainer’s experience. Rank represents progress through the journey and determines how high your Level can currently rise. Titles are marks of your history that you choose to display.
The first Rank comes with receiving your first Pokémon. Later Ranks will advance through Rank XP earned from achievements, with each reward credited once. Ordinary experience earned at your Rank’s Level cap will be banked and used when the next Rank unlocks further advancement.
There will also be clear limits on fielding Pokémon. Companions for which you are the original trainer may be up to ten levels above your Level; Pokémon received from other trainers will be limited to your own Level. Above that threshold, they can remain in your collection and be traded, but must wait for your progress before entering the field.
A dedicated screen will bring together requirements, achievements, and Rank progress. Displaying an earned title will be optional. The achievement catalogue that awards Rank XP and the sources of titles still need definition; this page describes planned progression rules, not their availability in the game.
