The new Pokédex is in development as a personal field book: a place to consult what you have learned about species and keep experiences from your journey. Initial data and progression foundations are integrated; the complete in-game book is still under construction.

In the planned system, seeing a wild Pokémon, releasing one of your own Pokémon for the first time, or hatching an egg discovers its species. Eligible defeats, successful captures, and hatchings then build knowledge of that species. This progress belongs to your character: receiving a traded Pokémon does not bring another trainer’s diary with it.

Discovery opens general consultation. As knowledge grows, the book reveals occurrence areas, schedules and appearance conditions, evolution information, and drops of different frequencies. This helps you decide where to search and how to prepare. Learning about a drop reveals information; it does not increase its drop chance.

Each discovered species will have one private annotation written by you, while the Memories collection will gather experiences with your companions, such as captures, births, and evolutions, including your first evolution of a species. These memories remain part of your history even after you trade the Pokémon away.

Species knowledge belongs in the Pokédex; an individual Pokémon’s stats, moves, and training belong in its summary. This first version focuses on consultation, knowledge, and personal records. Research Projects and special rewards belong to future stages.
