Choosing your first Pokémon

Your first companion is also your first introduction to different ways of battling. The selection screen brings the starter Pokémon together so you can understand the options before deciding who will join the beginning of your adventure.
You can switch between Pokémon to compare each species’ base stats, consult its Ability, and examine the moves shown. Moving between the options lets you consider their differences without accidentally confirming a choice.
Confirmation takes place in a separate step that names the chosen Pokémon and lets you return to the comparison. This completed milestone covers the selection, consultation, and confirmation screen. Other rules and extensions of the starter system have their own development work.
