Pokémon capture
Choose a Ball, prepare the encounter, and follow the same target between capture attempts.
Capture begins with preparing the encounter: choosing the Pokémon you want to find, weakening it without defeating it, and deciding which Ball to use. The revised formula considers species, the target’s level, remaining health, battle conditions, and Ball choice. Trainer level also influences your chances.
Lowering the target’s health and applying conditions that favor capture improves the attempt. When several conditions are active, only the largest condition bonus applies; the bonuses do not add together. Preparation helps, but an ordinary attempt still has an uncertain outcome.
If capture fails and the same Pokémon returns to the encounter, target selection can resume provided you can still target it and have not chosen another target. Automatic companion changes also preserve selection continuity, letting you keep following the same encounter.
This milestone covers the delivered formula and target continuity, validated together. Balancing costs and supplies, per-species Ball history, and other capture extensions remain separate work.
